Cutest thing ever!

Chloe's all time favourite thing is when her daddy makes monster noises and pretends to chomp on her belly. I can do this but I am not nearly as good at it, in terms of sheer baby giggle factor. I'll do when daddy is not around though.

Today she was sitting in bed with me and she leaned over and started gumming at my stomach. And I sort of thought it was slightly confused attempt to nurse. But then she turned her head and looked at me all expectant like. I understood way too late to giggle about it that she was trying to do the same thing that she loves so much to me. So tonight we were all sitting in bed just chillaxing and she did it to her dad. He thought she was just teething on him but I told him that she had done it this morning to me, so he giggled, and she giggled and that started a chain reaction and pretty soon we were all giggling.

Good times were had by all.

By the way Chloe is totally Zen

To Co-Sleep perchance to Dream

For about the last month Chloe has been sleeping in our bed. She has always before this slept in either a bassinet or in her own bed but in our room. She has also been sleeping through the night since about 2.5 months. But when she had the really bad cold she was fussy and constantly wanted to nurse. It started because I was too tired and or lazy to nurse her sitting up and then put her back into her own bed. Now I can't transfer her from boob to bed without a lot of screaming.

Over the long weekend Rick and I tried to put her in the crib in her own room and just let her cry it out. But she never seems to get to a point where she is too tired to cry and falls asleep. Sometimes with a soother and constant rocking in the stroller I can get her to sleep but it doesn't seem to work in bed. I can get her to sleep in my arms, but as soon as her head touches mattress she starts to cry. Rick can't seem to soothe her at all, she just gets progressively louder until I can't stand it anymore and go in and pick her up. Which immediately calms her down and she either falls asleep right away or starts pecking to nurse. Either way she has me wrapped around her baby finger and I don't get any sleep. So after 3 hours of me getting up every 20 minutes to calm Chloe down, I might add that 20 minutes seems to be the amount of time it takes me to fall asleep, I took her back to bed with me and we slept relatively well until about 6am. Which has been a wake up time for her for awhile. Last night I took her to bed with me at 10pm and except for a couple of grumbles in the night, which I quickly put a stopper in, we slept through until 08:30. This was a god send for me, as I am just a bit overtired.

I don't think that Chloe really likes sleeping with us, we are too warm for her and we tend to move about. Although I seem to have perfected the art of sleeping perfectly still. Another downside is my elbows are incredibly itchy, which I think is caused by her sweaty head being cradled in my elbow all night long. Both Rick and Margaret have expressed concern about her being able to sleep on her own. But I am of the opinion that my sleep is more important than hers. And since neither Rick nor Margaret can get her to sleep I think their opinion carries almost no weight.

I remember the days when this was all she did.... I also remember saying, "I can't wait for her to do stuff other than sleep" it seems we really should be careful what we wish for!

Milestones extraordinary

Chloe has decided that tummy time is not such a bad thing if it means that she can get closer to her toys. She will only go over onto her tummy from sitting though, she still doesn't want to roll over from her back to her front or vice versa.

We have also started solids, the face that she makes when she eats is super funny and I promise to try to get a shot of it asap. We are moving through rice cereal into yams today, which has been mildly unsuccessful, we will have to try again this afternoon.

Completely and Utterly Bonkers!

I've officially lost it! Well I have to admit that I might never have had it. Its been a long week. Chloe was sick, and her sleep pattern got completely Fubared. Now she is better but she is still not sleeping, most likely because she is teething. Molly says there is some miracle homeopathic thingy out there. Mayhaps I should have asked her for the 411.

Anyway we are doing well. Tomorrow we have to go for our 6 month checkup and shots. And then to Granville Island for some toy shopping I think.

More than one at a time? Impossible!

Toad put up a list of her reading, so I figured I had better show off my current list.

Bad Blood is the biography of a young girl growing up in post war Britain in a small town. I am reading it for the afternoon book club at the main library. I am only 50 pages in but so far its very interesting.

I am trying to have a mommy/daddy book club with the babies from parent and baby drop in. We picked a bunch of books from the list and the first one I found on the shelf was Motorcycle diaries. I haven't cracked it yet, but I will soon.

I guess pretty soon I will have to start making baby food. So I borrowed this book on natural baby foods. All in all its pretty self explanatory but its always good to read up!

Looking back at the pictures of Chloe with the cold I feel miserable. She is much better now, but Mister is home sick today, so this could be the beginning of a never ending cold cycle. Oh joy!
